Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA) and Identity Verification (IDV) are crucial components of Remote Online Notarization (RON). They ensure the person signing is who they claim to be. Managing these elements outside of a live session provides flexibility and control over the notarization process.
A Guided Approach to Managing KBA and IDV:
-
Access the Package Details:
- From the dashboard, select the 'RON' tab on the sidebar.
- Click on the desired notary package to open its detailed view.
-
Review KBA Status:
- In the detail view, locate the KBA tab.
- This tab displays the current status of KBA, such as 'Awaiting Completion' which indicates the signer has not yet completed the process.
-
Reset KBA:
- If necessary, use the 'Reset' button to restart the KBA process.
- This allows the signer to attempt the KBA again, particularly useful if they previously failed the verification.
-
Check IDV Progress:
- Switch to the IDV tab to view the verification status.
- You might find a status such as 'In Progress' if the signer is currently taking their selfie or has not completed IDV.
-
Reset IDV:
- Similar to KBA, you have the option to reset the IDV process.
- Resetting lets the signer retake their selfie for the ID verification.
Management Tips:
- Regularly monitor the progress of KBA and IDV to address any issues promptly.
- Communicate with the signer if a reset is performed to guide them through re-attempting the verification.
- Ensure signers understand the importance of completing KBA and IDV for the notarization to proceed.
